Lune Croissanterie — Sydney CBD

Lune began in Melbourne in 2012, founded by Kate Reid, whose earlier career included Formula 1 aerodynamics. It has since expanded to Brisbane and Sydney, where the larger Rosebery production store is complemented by this smaller CBD shop at Martin Place.
The shop was a short walk from our hotel, and most mornings there seemed to be a line out the door. The kitchen is clean and easy to see, and it’s apparent that the people working there take pastry-making seriously.
On September 28, I joined the queue for a flat white and the Ham & Gruyere: a freshly baked croissant filled with shaved ham, Swiss Gruyère and seeded mustard. I was a little disappointed that the wait was about ten minutes, although given the usual line it wasn’t especially surprising.
The croissant is very much breakfast by way of dessert. If that’s how you want to start the day, I’d recommend it. There’s nothing wrong with that.
